Of all the festivals in the world – Christmas, Diwali, Eid – my favorite continues to be the shopping festival!
The Oktoberfest held in Munich, Germany, every September comes a close second, and I’ve often wondered if a perfect world could be created if a shopping festival could be combined with a beer bash of that magnitude!
I can almost wax lyrical over it. Something set to the tune of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ except the lyrics would read:
Imagine there’s no pausing,
Shopping without fear,
No boys complaining,
Because everywhere there’s beer…!
Fresh back from the year-end sales in Malaysia, I’ve smoothly transitioned into the Dubai Shopping Festival.
That heady feeling of another pair of branded shoes at bargain prices has got me so charged that I am convinced I should plan all my holidays around shopping festivals.
The shopping tour would start with the DSF in Jan, then hop over to Hong Kong for the Chinese New Year sales, the Cannes Shopping Festival in March is absolutely unmissable, then catch the Great Singapore Sale in May, a bit of back and forth between the Dubai Summer Surprises and Hong Kong Shopping Festival in July August with a stopover in London for the summer sales(its works in the shopping world map!) and finally catching the year-end sales in Malaysia again!
I may have to miss the Ankara Shopping Festival in June-July, the Thailand Grand Sale and the Akropolis Kaunas Grand Shopping Festival in Lithuania in the same months, however if I plan well I will still be able to catch the Jaipur Shopping Festival in November and the Grand Kerala Sale in Dec-Jan.
My friend – Shop. A. Holic is as excited as me to go on this fabulous shopping expedition. We are already getting our lists and our trainers ready as I type this.
Like she says, ” Lets buy it now, because we never know if we will ever get such a good deal again!”
